Practicing the 'presence' of Jesus - WHAT?

"...they help you practice the 'presence' of Jesus...they don't 'counsel' you...they are just the facilitators...Jesus does the counseling..."

This is how a certain variety of "Christian" counseling was described to me today. It is very troubling to me that people are being encouraged and taught to seek and rely on voices, impressions, and feelings of 'presence' instead of studying and obeying the all-sufficient Word of God.

AMEN!! I just needed to read that and it doesn't have anything to do w/ counseling but something someone wants us to get involved w/ based on a "revelation" they got from God....My husband and I just discussed this and we choose to rely on the Word and what is written in it. How can we take stock in any extra biblical revelation?? We only need the truth in His word - not something man thinks God has given them...

I so appreciate your wisdom!

This is very concerning information. There is always an attack against the Word of God--the tentacles of the enemy seem to mutate from one area to the next. Thanks for the alert.

Sounds like "theophostic", something a friend of mine is (sadly) involved in.

That really is troubling....It is this type of mysticism that makes it difficult for the 'real' biblical counselor to weed through the muck of this idolatrous approach to dealing with the heart.
BTW I gave you a well deserved award.
