(FYI - This will most likely be my one and ONLY "political" post, so here goes...)
Okay, so maybe I'm not really moving to Canada (thanks to blogging, I do at least have some acquaintances there) but it certainly is tempting! "Why?", you may ask. Because of, this.
Anyone who knows me well, knows that I tend to be apolitical. It all began in 1992 when George Bush lost to Bill Clinton. I was DEVASTATED--I'm not kidding. I was stunned and clearly remember not wanting to go to work the next morning where I would have to face a few coworkers who were Clinton fans (the banking industry was still very conservative then).
I was honestly surprised and ashamed at the intensity of my reaction. It forced me to stop and reevaluate my trust in God to do what was right and good--His sovereignty. I was reminded that it is God who places people in positions of authority to govern us--both to bless and to judge a people or nation. And honestly, the years that followed that election judged our country as more morally bankrupt than I'd ever imagined!
I know that it is still VERY early in the game, but I'm sure you understand why I'm not looking forward to the prospect of living under God's judgement AGAIN. Hopefully we--as a nation--learned SOMETHING when Hillary's husband was in office.
Being the one and only registered Republican on my side of the family, I like to tease them by saying that the only reason I may choose to vote in any given election is so that I can "cancel" out their vote! It's always good for a laugh, but I know Who places people in "high" places--to bless or to judge.

Connie, as much as I would love to have you here, you don't want to live in Canada if you are Republican. I know people who are moving to Canada because they don't like all the Republicanism in the U.S.
But I would love to have you!!
I hadn't read your post before mine, but it IS funny how alike our thinking is on this one.
I know what you mean, friend. I sometimes find myself being angry about the state of things...even fearful sometimes. Then, I have to stop and ask myself, "Who is in charge?" "Who is Lord of the Universe?" "Is He able to keep all I have entrusted to Him toward that day?" And, of course, the answer is a resounding yes. So, I do vote, I might even help out in a campaign, but I know that whatever the outcome, it won't surprise my Abba and He is still in control!
Kim: Gee thanks, I've visited a number of places in Canada and loved them all!! When all is said and done, I'm learning to trust less in man and more in God--how unAmerican!!! :-)
Carla: That's what I thought was neat--it clearly struck a nerve in both of us!!
Clarissa: I hope I don't give the impression that I'm opposed to voting or helping in campaigns, God has granted us those freedoms--for now. I stepped out of "obscurity" last year and voted just so that our daughters could see/witness the whole process. And, I'm doing my best to educate and prepare my oldest daughter who will get to vote in the 2008! My first opportunity to vote was a Presidential election, I voted for Ronald Reagan (and again four years later)! :-)
